Regulatory Update – New Brunswick

We are pleased to announce that the Government of New Brunswick recently posted draft amendments to the Designated Materials Regulation – Clean Environment Act regulation, with the objective of establishing new extended producer responsibility (EPR) Battery and Lamp waste diversion programs in New Brunswick. These draft amendments can be reviewed here until May 31, 2024.

Regulatory Update – Yukon

In January 2024, the Government of Yukon approved an Extended Producer Responsibility (EPR) regulation for hazardous and special products including batteries.

Call2Recycle is currently finalizing its plan proposal for a new Yukon battery recycling program. This plan will be posted for consultation by the end of May 2024, which will be followed by a 65-day consultation period on the program plan. The anticipated program launch date will be early 2025.
